A new season is a great time to revive and refresh your home interiors. Bedroom aficionado, Adrian Galiazzo from Snooze shares his top tips on getting your place of rest spring ready.
The first step in any bedroom makeover is to de-clutter. Remove any unnecessary winter throws and cushions from the bed. This is also good time to move your winter clothes from the wardrobe and store tidily elsewhere. Beds with underneath storage are a great option, providing extra room whilst not taking up floor space.
Remember, to be stringent with your spring clear out. Gifting unwanted items to your preferred local charity is a great way to give your old bedroom furniture and accessories a new home.
When deciding on colours for the bedroom, opt for neutral tones to create a relaxed calm environment. The bed is usually the central focus of the room, so changing your sheets and pillow covers is a simple yet effective way to spruce up a space. Select a new colour tone or pattern for a refreshed clean look.
As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to opt for a lighter weight quilt which may in turn help to give you a more comfortable night’s sleep. Cotton or TENCEL variants are suggested for warmer climates.
To make your room appear bigger, try using a mirror to brighten up the space. The best way to get this effect is to use a large mirror that covers most of one wall – preferably opposite a window so as to reflect the light. Alternatively, mirrored wardrobes are also a great option.
Taking down any heavy curtains and replacing with lighter alternative or blinds will open up the room with natural light and provide a more spacious look.
Lastly, if it’s time you upgraded your bed but you’re unsure which sleep surface is most appropriate, try something like the bedMATCH™ system which takes a number of body measurements and prints out a small list of mattresses which may better suit your needs. It takes all the guesswork out of buying the right bed for you.
